Wedding | Berlin | Germany | Lauren & Flo II

Wedding | Berlin | Germany: Lauren & Flo

Wedding | Berlin | Germany: Mike & Maren

Wedding | Berlin | Germany: Tahar & Laura

Shots from the wedding of the lovely Tahar & Laura. The day started with a ceremony at the Rathaus Schönberg, followed by portraits in der Nahe von graffiti and down by the river, before the reception at the Spreespeicher, also riverside.

It's always a privilege (and a lot of fun) to photograph a wedding, and Tahar and Laura's celebration was no different in that respect. But - and I think if I understood him correctly the father of the bride touched on this in his speech - because of who they are, because of the diverse mix of cultures present at their wedding (German, Turkish, Tunisian, French, Austrian, Egyptian, to name a few), and because of what has been happening this year at Europe's borders, their wedding felt special in another way too.

As they and their families have big, open hearts, I think I can say that their wedding felt like not only a celebration of love, but also of a wider embrace, inclusiveness and diversity, and that was a fine thing to be a part of.

Wedding | Berlin | Germany: Gard & Bitte

These shots are from an intimate ceremony at the Nordic Embassy in Berlin, and locations nearby. Gard, from Norway, and Bitte, from Sweden, popped over to Berlin for a few days to marry (and shop for vinyl) before heading back to Oslo for a weekend party for friends and family.

It was a fun shoot and I wish them both health, happiness, and good tunes for their future together!

Wedding | Bernau | Germany: Elliot & Simone

At the end of August I photographed the wedding of Elliot and Simone, a lovely couple from Canada and Deutschland. The ceremony was at the Rathaus Bernau, and the reception was at the Villa Biesenthal, a modern building with an old, stucco facade.

It was grand, and a privilege to be there to document their special day for them among their friends and family.

Wedding | Berlin | Europe: Oliver & Samantha

These shots are from Oliver & Samantha's intimate autumn wedding in Berlin with close friends and family from Germany and Brazil. After their morning ceremony and lunch I took them for a portrait session in the Englischer Garten, in the Tiergarten, and the sun did shine on us.

Many thanks to both of them and their loved ones for making the day such fun, and thanks also to Dorothy Roffat for helping me out with hair and make-up services at short notice.

Engagement Portraits | Wesley & Claudine

Wesley and Claudine are a lovely couple from Manila. We headed out one bright Sunday afternoon to the Volkspark Friedrichschain to dip ourselves in its palette of greens and graffiti. It was a fun shoot and I'd like to thank them for being such nice folk, and also for the dark beer and dinner they treated us to. Prost!

Thanks also to Yankee Tsang for her makeup skills, and gracias, as ever, to my unflappable assistant.

Engagement Portraits | Patrick & Anita

Patrick and Anita chose an amazing location for their portraits - the Ballhaus Riviera in Grunau. We had to jump a fence to get in and tread lightly on the crumbling floors, but the risk was worth it for the pretty much limitless photographic possibilities inside.

So thanks to them for choosing such a great place and for the fun day out, to the fence for being climb-able, and to my excellent assistant for her help.

Ballhaus Riviera, Grunau

These shots are from a touch of location scouting for an engagement shoot, in the south-east of the city at the Ballhaus Riviera. It was built during the time of the Weimar Republic, and was in use up until around 1990. Since then, it's been left to rot and is falling, bit by bit, to bits.

Wedding | Belgium | Europe: Poppy & Joris

In June I photographed Poppy and Joris' wedding ceremony in Oud-Turnhout, Belgium. They're a lovely, fun-loving couple, and the night before the wedding, they took me out to dinner and introduced me to some fine Belgian beers.

Here are a few shots from their special day:

Wedding Photographer in Berlin

Finally, after quite a bit of tinkering, my new wedding photography website is up and running. So now I have a site for editorial/travel/commercial work, and a separate one that's purely for weddings and engagements.

Wedding: Babs & Miles

What with all the craziness of moving countries I didn't post anything about this fantastic wedding I had the pleasure to photograph in Bali, Indonesia, right before I left for Germany.

Babs and Miles are not your average couple. They hired out the beautiful Mahatma House in Seseh, and threw the most colourful, fun ceremony you can imagine. After the beautifully non-traditional ceremony and some extremely entertaining speeches, the wedding party released lanterns on the beach, and then partied, fully-clothed, in the pool.
