Design Panoptikum | Berlin
The Design Panoptikum is a surrealist museum in Mitte, where industrial and other objects are joined and separated to become art.
It's run by a very entertaining Russian man who encourages visitors to let their imaginations and creativity run wild in trying to work out what these these things or combinations of things were originally used for. Then he wanders the rooms as you do, picking up bits of metal and plastic and telling you what they aren't, followed by what they are, which kind of scrubs out the opportunity to use your own imagination, suggested to you by him in the first place. But nevermind! He does it with great enthusiasm and, as these are his surreal objects, it's grand to know the surreality of the mind behind them.
